This month you can grab Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a spiritual successor to Sega's Jet Set Radio. Like the games that inspired it, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has a cel-shaded art style and it's set in a city where local gangs compete for clout by being as extreme as possible. There are various ways to get around New Amsterdam--from rollerblades to skateboarding--and you can leave your mark on the city with fresh graffiti. Assemble your crew, explore the five boroughs, and avoid the fuzz as you take on rival crews and strange enemies.

Another noteworthy game this month is Atlas Fallen, a solid action-adventure that recently received new enemies, quests, a reworked campaign, and a revamped progression system through a major update. It's a satisfying game where you wield strange powers to take on deadly beasts and cruel gods, so if you've been looking to pick this up, then this is a good time to do so following its overhaul.

Stalker 2 Developer Explains Why A-Life 2.0 Was Pulled From The Game's Description

4 Diciembre 2024 at 14:26

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has only been out for two weeks, but the game remains a work in progress. Developer GSC Game World released a day-one patch to address some of Stalker 2's lingering issues. However, the title is still missing the A-Life 2.0 system that was initially promised on its Steam page. Now, GSC Game World is opening up about why A-Life 2.0 isn't in the game and how the Steam page was changed.

During an interview with IGN, creative director Maria Grygorovych explained that A-Life 2.0 is still in Stalker 2; it just isn't working as intended yet. The first Stalker used the initial A-Life--which was created as an AI program to give NPC characters in the world of the game a life of their own beyond any interactions with the players. A-Life 2.0 was meant to be the next generation of that program, if it can be made to function correctly.

GSC CEO Ievgen Grygorovych told IGN that as the game's launch date neared, the team attempted to shrink the area around the player affected by A-Life 2.0 before they encountered game-breaking bugs that forced the team to turn off the feature for now. Maria Grygorovych added that the change in the game's Steam description came from someone in the marketing department who made the edit without telling her. Both Grygorovychs also insisted that the developer is still committed to implementing A-Life 2.0 and ironing out its issues.

Amazon Never Suggested Cutting Secret Level's Concord Episode

4 Diciembre 2024 at 13:34

Sony's ill-fated multiplayer shooter Concord is the focus of an episode of Prime Video's video game anthology series Secret Level, and, because the game itself has been shuttered, it could be one of the last times fans see anything about Concord. But Secret Level showrunner Tim Miller never considered removing the episode in the wake of the game's cancellation, and Amazon never asked for that.

"It never came up with us, I mean, Amazon never suggested it, and we didn't either because why? I mean, we have games in the mix that are no longer like Unreal Tournament," Miller told GamesRadar. "This one the course to not being out there was different, of course, but the end result is we have an interesting story with a beautiful piece of animation that people worked very hard to produce."

You can check out a clip from Secret Level's Concord episode in the video below.

Ubisoft Still Dedicated To Live-Service After Its Call Of Duty Competitor Came Up Short

4 Diciembre 2024 at 13:15

Ubisoft recently made the shocking announcement that it would shut down its Call of Duty competitor, XDefiant, close Ubisoft San Francisco, and lay off nearly 300 people in what was just the latest unfortunate development for the people who make video games in this business. Now, internal memos from CEO Yves Guillemot and chief studios boss Marie-Sophie de Waubert have emerged.

Guillemot said in a memo obtained by Insider Gaming that the decision to cancel XDefiant, close Ubisoft San Francisco and Osaka, and ramp down its Sydney office was "among the most difficult decisions we've had to make." Guillemot praised the XDefiant development team and its ambition to "challenge the best shooter on the market." However, "it was not enough," he admitted.

For those being laid off, Guillemot said he expresses his "deepest gratitude" and that the company will do "everything possible" to help affected staffers.

The calendar has flipped over to December, and while Microsoft isn't ready to reveal all the games headed to Game Pass this month, the company has announced one: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The racing game from Activision hits Game Pass on December 4.

This might not be the only Crash game headed to Game Pass soon, as an Amazon Fire Stick leak suggests Crash Bandicoot 4 is also coming to Game Pass. This is unconfirmed for now, though. Before this, Crash Bandicoot N' Sane Trilogy came to Game Pass this past August.

Elden Ring 2 Is Not Happening, At Least Not Yet

3 Diciembre 2024 at 13:41

From Software is not currently considering Elden Ring 2, according to studio boss Hidetaka Miyazaki. He confirmed this during a speech following a recent awards ceremony where the game's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion took home an award.

Asked about the expansion of the Elden Ring franchise, Miyazaki said, as reported by IGN Japan and Automaton, "We're not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2."

While there may be no sequel plans currently, Miyazaki said the Elden Ring franchise could return "in some form in the future." Miyazaki previously said people have expressed interest in making an Elden Ring movie, but no such project has been officially announced.

Here's Why Your Fortnite XP Gains Are Slower In Chapter 6

3 Diciembre 2024 at 01:18

The recently announced changes to Fortnite Crew have been accompanied by some unpopular changes to XP gains in Chapter 6 Season 1, with progress slowing compared with past seasons--a jarring shift after the just-ended Remix season was overly generous with XP.

As with every new Fortnite season, players spent Chapter 6's launch day binge-playing the new battle royale map and trying out all the new weapons and items. But a lot of folks noticed something odd after playing all day--they weren't as far along in the new battle pass as they'd normally expect to be. Whereas dedicated players could usually earn 20 or 30 levels just from playing a lot on day 1, this time around, a lot of folks (including myself) found their gains grinding to a halt before they hit double digits.

This is reportedly the result of some newly implemented major changes to how XP is primarily gained in Fortnite. Season-long milestones for battle royale have been removed entirely, there is now just one set of three daily quests for all modes combined instead of quests for each mode, and XP in other modes (Lego, Reload, OG, Festival, Save the World, and Creative) is now primarily time-based and hard-capped weekly--it only takes a few hours to reach the cap, and after that gains are reduced to a trickle.

Nintendo Switch 2 'Leak' Could Offer A Very Blurry First-Look At The Console

3 Diciembre 2024 at 00:34

A low-quality video of what appears to be a Nintendo Switch 2 has emerged, prompting fan speculation over the as-yet-unseen console and the validity of this footage.

The video was posted on Chinese video site Bibli and was first spotted by Nintendo Soup (via Kotaku). The footage appears to show someone removing a joycon from the side of the Switch 2 screen by simply pulling it off. The controllers themselves seem to sport infrared sensors (on both the left and right joycons) and bigger shoulder buttons. This matches previous leaks, which suggested that the Switch 2 would have magnetic joycons and a more complex controller layout, though it would also maintain the same basic design as the original Switch. However, the blurry footage could be fake, and feature a version of the console constructed using information from prior leaks.

Edited video by me (since the original video is 5+ minutes long)

We can also see the man de-attaching the Joy-Cons at the beginning of the video pic.twitter.com/RtIVDQJOlX

— Adrien190303 #ThankYouToriyama (@Adrien190303) December 2, 2024

Details about the upcoming console are still scant. Nintendo has confirmed that an official announcement of the Switch 2 will arrive before April 2025. The console was previously rumored to release in 2024, but reports early this year claimed it had been delayed. The Switch 2 specs are still up in the air, though a Digital Foundry report claimed that the system would use an Nvidia custom T239 processor. Nintendo recently confirmed that the successor will be backwards compatible. Nintendo Switch Online will also carry over to the new system. At least one game has already been announced for the upcoming console.

PlayStation Portal 30th Anniversary Edition Restocked On Cyber Monday

2 Diciembre 2024 at 23:44

The 30th Anniversary PlayStation consoles and accessories were restocked at various retailers today for Cyber Monday. While most of these restocks sold out immediately, the 30th Anniversary PlayStation Portal handheld is still available for $220 via PlayStation Direct.

PlayStation Portal - 30th Anniversary Edition

$220

PlayStation Direct is the official PlayStation retail portal, so you're getting the device directly from Sony. PS Direct requires you to sign in with your PSN account before you can buy. All orders are eligible for free standard shipping.

The PlayStation Portal is a handheld device used for streaming gameplay directly from your PS5 over Wi-Fi. The device does not play games natively. Design-wise, it looks like a DualSense PS5 controller with an 8-inch LCD screen. The Portal supports DualSense features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback and can stream gameplay at up to 1080p resolutions and 60fps. Like other 30th Anniversary PlayStation devices, this version of the Portal features a gray color scheme and colored face buttons that resemble the original PlayStation 1 console and its DualShock controller.

Stocks are limited, and given how popular all the 30th Anniversary consoles and accessories are, chances are the Portal will sell out soon. If you've been considering buying one, now is the time.
