How An Incineroar-Themed Pokemon Card Deck Possibly Saved This Person's Life From Gunfire

10 Abril 2025 at 14:06

Usually people play with Pokemon trading cards or collect them. But apparently they can save your life by blocking an actual bullet. That's reportedly what happened for a Florida resident, as a neighbor's gunfire was stopped by an Incineroar-themed deck of Pokemon cards.

A Reddit user shared how Pokemon cards saved their life, saying that they "now count Incineroar as my guardian angel Pokemon and have never been happier to have piles of cardboard in my box." The writer, who goes by LolaInSlacks88, says they were sleeping on a Sunday last month when a "series of explosions" awakened them. Apparently, their neighbor in the country shot a 9mm bullet into their house that was ultimately stopped by the Pokemon deck. They believe that if not for the cards, the ammo could have hit them in bed.

Even with the pictures, some people were skeptical about this story. To back up their claims, LolaInSlacks88 shared a photo of their police report from the scary incident that has since been deleted. GameSpot cannot confirm the authenticity of this story, though we did see the police report before it was removed from Reddit.

Minecraft Meets Pokemon In Anime-Inspired Tomo: Endless Blue

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Onibi Studio--a newly founded game studio featuring industry veterans who worked on titles such as World of Warcraft, Baldur’s Gate 3, Fortnite, and League of Legends--has announced its first game. Tomo: Endless Sea is an anime-inspired, open-world action-RPG in which players will get the chance to tame mysterious creatures named Tomo, craft various contraptions, and explore a procedurally generated oceanic world known as Endless Blue. The game will also support online multiplayer, and is labeled as an MMO, in addition to its other genres. Tomo: Endless Blue is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2026.

Alongside its announcement, Onibi Studio shared a first-look at Tomo: Endless Blue in an adorable trailer that turns shockingly dark in its final moments. In it, two characters approach an island aboard a flying whale-like creature that is seemingly an island itself. The pair catch their first Tomo before delving into the ocean below, swimming to shore, and starting off on their own adventure on the voxel island. Throughout the entire trailer, an original song composed by Cécile Corbel--best known for her work on Arrietty--and sung by Ai Higuchi of Attack on Titan fame, plays. As for what happens next, well... you can see for yourself:

Though Minecraft-meets-Pokemon is an apt comparison for Tomo: Endless Sea, the studio has also expressed great emphasis on what sets it apart, such as the game's physics. On Tomo's Steam page, Onibi Studio wrote, "Blocks have physics and can be used to create vehicles and contraptions. Whether it's a boat, crane, or airship, build your own machines block by block--with your creativity, the possibilities are endless." Additionally, the Endless Blue will include other features, such as arenas, ancient ruins, and "vibrant, bustling worlds that feel truly alive." Villages, their architecture, culture, stories, quests, dialogues, and people are all dynamically generated, according to Onibi, in an attempt to ensure no two locations are the same.

How to open the Shelter Time Lock Safe in Blue Prince

The Shelter Time Lock Safe, as the term implies, only opens at a specific day and hour. Before we get to that, though, let's talk about how you can gain access to the Shelter itself.

How To Solve The Drawing Room Puzzle In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Eager to check out the Drawing Room Puzzle in Blue Prince? This particular room appears fairly often in playthroughs, and it's also quite useful since you can redraw your selection pool once for each passageway. But the design itself--with countless paintings and drawings on the walls--is very conspicuous. You just know that there's something that's hidden here. In any case, this article contains minor spoilers, so do watch out.

How to solve the Drawing Room Puzzle in Blue Prince - Safe code guide

The Drawing Room Puzzle is actually related to the 44 pairs of paintings in the manor and how clues help you open various safes. While the safes in other locations follow a particular theme, the container in the Drawing Room uses a unique concept. But, first, you might be wondering why you can't see a safe in the first place.

Where to find the Drawing Room Safe?

To get started with the Blue Prince Drawing Room Puzzle, take a look at the painting of the old man in the middle of the room. Notice anything different with the illustration compared to your surroundings? Yes, it seems that the left side of one of the candelabras is bent in the painting, but it's completely straight in reality.

Where to find the Secret Garden Key?

How To Solve The Parlor Puzzle In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Do you want to solve the Parlor Puzzle in Blue Prince? The Parlor Room itself has a fairly high chance of appearing among the drafting options in the manor. The activity within also relies more on logical deduction, with a bit of humor on the side.

How to solve the Parlor Puzzle in Blue Prince

The Parlor Puzzle involves three boxes--blue, white, and black--with different statements/clues. If you read the note on the desk, it should tell you that:

  • At least one of the statements is true.
  • At least one of the statements is false.
  • Only one of the boxes has a reward.

Once you think you have the answer, pick up the Wind-Up Key and use it on the container. If you guessed correctly, you'll be able to pick up two gems.

How To Get The Shovel And Sledge Hammer In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Do you want to get the Shovel and Sledge Hammer in Blue Prince? These items are very useful, especially in your runs where there are several objects that you can dig up or break. However, randomization can become a problem, which is why we have a guide to help you prepare.

How to get the Shovel and Sledge Hammer in Blue Prince

The Shovel and the Sledge Hammer are extremely important to have as you explore the inner recesses of the manor and the outer areas, too. The former allows you to dig through dirt piles to discover resources, such as gold, gems, and keys (including some unique variants). The latter, meanwhile, lets you break open locked trunks/chests, as opposed to wasting keys just to open them.

Unfortunately, the Shovel and Sledge Hammer in Blue Prince are totally randomized. The randomization doesn't just apply to their locations, but also their actual availability in each run. As such, you're not always guaranteed to see them everyday in the manor, but there are a few ways to increase your chances of acquiring them.

How To Reach The Antechamber And Room 46 In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Are you hoping to reach the Antechamber and Room 46 in Blue Prince? Story-wise, these are considered as your main goals in the campaign. A long trek through the manor that, eventually, leads you to the furthest ranks so that you can claim your inheritance. But the going does get tough, so we've got a guide to help you prepare along the way. Also, to be clear, this guide does contain spoilers.

How to reach the Antechamber and Room 46 in Blue Prince

The path to reach Room 46 in Blue Prince is long and arduous. You're not always guaranteed to get the rooms that you want, and you might not have enough steps or resources to make it all the way to the end. However, with patience and tenacity, as well as a lot of luck, you should be able to succeed.

Note: By default, the Antechamber's entrances are all locked. The goal is to find levers in specific rooms. You can then interact with these to unlock their respective doorways. Naturally, you still need to draft rooms to create a path to those doorways.

Secret Garden: Western Antechamber Door

Perhaps the easiest way to access the Antechamber in Blue Prince is via the Secret Garden. Once you've found it, you can rotate the two valves so that the wind vanes point to the west--i.e. toward the moon statuette. This causes the pedestal to rotate, revealing the hidden lever. This lever opens the western Antechamber door, so you just need to make your way there.

Greenhouse: Southern Antechamber Door

The Greenhouse typically appears along the far-right side of the manor. Once you enter it, you should notice the device on the wall. Unfortunately, there's no lever.

You need to look for a Broken Lever which, like most other items, tends to appear randomly in rooms. Most of the time, though, we've seen it on a desk in Security and on a crate in the Spare Room. Once you have a Broken Lever, head back to the panel and attach it to activate the device.

Great Hall: Eastern Antechamber Door

The Great Hall has four connections, several items, an Upgrade Disk, and a lever for the Antechamber in Blue Prince. There are just a couple of caveats:

  • All of the other doors are locked. As such, you need several keys or you need to be lucky enough with the Lockpicking Set.
  • Alternatively, you can draft the Foyer before the Great Hall. The Foyer, once active, causes all doors in Hallways to remain unlocked. This ensures that you can check every nook and cranny in the Great Hall without issues.

The Antechamber and the Basement Key

You're going to be in for a surprise once you arrive at the Antechamber. That's because the Antechamber door to the north is also locked. A note on the pedestal says that, "To go up, you must go down." There's also a Basement Key that you can pick up.

Now, you have a new objective:

  • Make your way to the Underground. There are various entrances which we discuss in our Underground guide.
  • The doors down below are locked, but you can open them with the Basement Key. Every door that you open in this manner will remain unlocked for future runs, even if the Basement Key returns to the Antechamber and it's not in your inventory.
  • To summarize: Your goal is to go through the Rotating Gear Puzzle in the Underground. This leads you to a sanctum with the lever for the northern Antechamber door.
  • Pull the lever to unlock the door, then return to the Antechamber and enter Room 46.

Yes, this whole journey might've been a doozy and it can take you several attempts. But, sooner or later, you should find yourself in Room 46 in Blue Prince. Go watch the cutscene, enjoy the fruits of your labor, and wait for the game over scre... Oh, what's that? We have more stuff to do?

More Antechamber levers and returning to Room 46

No, we're not joking at all. Reaching Room 46 in Blue Prince is just the tip of a continent-sized iceberg. We don't want to spoil all the details, but you will discover new rooms, more perplexing puzzles, and countless secrets that are intricately woven.

You can definitely return to Room 46 if you want, as there are some cool things to discover. Likewise, there are additional levers that grant access on top of the default options:

  • Secret Garden: Eastern Antechamber Door - You need the Power Hammer to destroy the weakened wall. This activates another wind vane that points east. Have all wind waves point to the east to reveal another control panel.
  • Mechanarium: Western Antechamber Door - This room's blueprint can be found in the Underground. The Mechanarium Puzzle itself requires you to have access to its side doors, one of which has a control panel.
  • Throne Room: Northern Antechamber Door - You can get the Throne Room blueprint once you've found all the Microchips. Draft it and check behind the throne to find a lever.

That does it for our guide on how to reach the Antechamber and Room 46 in Blue Prince. Make no mistake: This is going to be a time-consuming task. That said, we do think it's one of the most enjoyable experiences for anyone who loves puzzle and mystery games.

How To Reach The Underground In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Do you want to reach the Underground in Blue Prince? There's a massive area far below the mansion, and there are multiple ways to get there. Our guide discusses all these methods, as well as what you can expect once you've made it to the new location. Of course, this article does contain spoilers, too.

How to reach the Underground in Blue Prince

The Underground has various entrances, and you're likely to use all of them at least once in your playthrough. The most common paths, however, are via the Foundation or the Fountain/Blue Flame.

Note 1: The main sections are locked behind doors that can only be opened using the Basement Key. You have to reach the Antechamber to get it, and then bring it all the way to the Underground.

Note 2: Each day/run, the Basement Key will return to the Antechamber. However, any door you've opened using it will remain permanently unlocked even if it's no longer in your inventory.

Underground map

The map above shows the Blue Flame Underground zone. As you can see, there are five entranceways: Foundation, Fountain, Cliffside, Tomb, and Blue Flame.

Your main objective here is to reach the section with the Rotating Gear and the North Lever, as that path allows you to gain access to Room 46.

Foundation entrance

The Foundation became our primary way of reaching the Underground in Blue Prince. We do have a separate guide detailing the Foundation's placement and elevator activation, but here's the gist:

  • The Foundation is unique in that you only need to place it once in the manor and its position will never reset with each run.
  • Placement is important, since it determines if it's easily accessible or if you still need to draft a path to it.
  • We placed our Foundation just past the Entrance Hall, so we only had to step once into it to go down the elevator to the Underground.
  • Don't forget the Basement Key since you need it to open the door to the larger chamber beyond.

Fountain entrance

You can also access the Underground if you manage to drain the Fountain. Past the door opened by the Basement Key, you should see a mine cart blocking a narrow tunnel that leads to the Rotating Gear area and the Foundation (i.e. eastern) side.

  • If you push the mine cart to the far end, it'll be tougher to reach the Rotating Gear/North Lever section via the Foundation entrance.
  • If you pull the mine cart back all the way back, it'll be harder to reach the Rotating Gear/North Lever section via the Fountain entrance.
  • Either way, push/pull the mine cart depending on which path is easier to access in your playthrough.

Cliffside entrance

Another method to reach the Underground in Blue Prince involves the Cliffside entrance. You should see a collapsed tunnel if you go down the steps from the manor yard/grounds. You need a Power Hammer to destroy the obstacles and weakened walls. This should lead you to the Basement, which also connects to the nook below the Foundation elevator.

Tomb entrance

One more option for the Underground exists, and but it's heavily based on RNG. Basically, you need to draft the Tomb in the outer room. Here's a quick summary:

  • You must open the Garage Door to permanently gain access to the West Gate Path.
  • Interact with the shed to see the drafting options. The Tomb may randomly appear as one of the choices.
  • Solve the Tomb Puzzle based on the clues found in the Chapel.
  • When you leave the Tomb, you'll find yourself near the aforementioned mine cart.

Blue Flame entrance

Finally, you can gain another entryway once you've activated all four Blue Flames in the grounds. Doing so causes an elevator to appear.

  • The elevator takes you to a narrow tunnel, which is near the Chess Puzzle.
  • There are spiral steps leading to an upper section. However, you might need to use the Burning Glass or Self-Igniting Torch while in the Fountain section just to make your way through.

The Reservoir: Traveling between the eastern and western banks

The mine cart blocks the tunnel that connects the eastern and western halves of the Underground, which is really annoying. However, you can travel between these areas (without using the other entrances) via the Reservoir:

The Rotating Gear Puzzle and the Red Door

The task to complete the Rotating Gear Puzzle in Blue Prince is fairly straightforward. You just need to interact with the control mechanisms so you can cross the gap. The first mechanism is closer to the Foundation side, and you'll just make your way around the area as you go along.

  • The most notable loot here is the Mechanarium blueprint, which lets you draft this special room. And, yes, there's also a Mechanarium Puzzle in that chamber.
  • There's a full map of the Underground--i.e. the same one that we included earlier in this guide.
  • Once you get past the Rotating Gear area, there's a high-tech tunnel called the Underpass. Look carefully as you keep left and you might spot the Red Door.

The North Lever and the Inner Sanctum

The last and perhaps most important section of the Underground in Blue Prince is the Inner Sanctum. Upon arriving at the location, you should see a lever. Pulling it opens the northern door of the Antechamber, giving you access to Room 46.

Note that, in future runs, the northern door and all other Antechamber doors will be closed again. This means you need to pull the North Lever if you wish to return to Room 46. Don't worry, though, since there are other levers/paths to the Antechamber.

Finally, the eight doors surrounding the lever might have piqued your interest. These are the Inner Sanctum doorways, which are locked by default. You can only enter these once you have Sanctum Keys. So, if you thought your adventures in Blue Prince are over, well, guess again. This is probably one of the most surreal and expansive New Game Plus or post-campaign modes in gaming.

How To Solve The Chess Puzzle In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

So, you're planning to solve the Chess Puzzle in Blue Prince, eh? This task is easier said than done. Not only do you need to gain access to a mysterious area of the manor, but you also have to explore the mansion just so you could remember certain interesting findings. Oh, and before we continue, please be reminded that this article, even though it's quite comprehensive, still contains minor spoilers.

How to solve the Chess Puzzle in Blue Prince

Think of the Chess Puzzle as somewhat akin to the 44 pairs of paintings. While that's a "meta puzzle" in its own unique way, it did require you to scour several rooms just to find a few odd things in your surroundings. The chess puzzle follows a similar concept, except it might be a lot harder due to randomization.

How exactly does the Blue Prince Chess Puzzle work? Think of it this way: Several rooms that you draft in the manor will have a specific chess piece in the environment--i.e. Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen, and King.

  • The game "records" where these pieces are based on the rooms that you've drafted for that run.
  • You then need to place the chess pieces on the puzzle board based on their respective locations in the manor.
  • You can't do this puzzle if you haven't placed any rooms at all. For each piece, you need to have at least one room that has that piece drafted in the manor. That's the only way for the board to "detect" that a piece is active.
  • The pieces in each room will never change, but your placement definitely will in each run. For example, you might place a room like the Den (has a Pawn piece) in the first row during one run. Then, you'd place it in the third row during your next run.
  • All in all, you have to do your usual manor run, record/take note of where the pieces are, and then high-tail it back to the Chess Puzzle chamber so you can place their counterparts on the board.

Where to find the Chess Puzzle?

The Blue Prince Chess Puzzle can be found in the Underground section of the manor. There are two ways to get here:

  • Blue Flames route - You can reach this area once you've activated all four Blue Flames at the grounds. An elevator will pop up, and you can ride it down to a deep tunnel. A narrow pathway leads to a large chamber with the Chess Puzzle.
  • Fountain route - Alternatively, you can drain the Fountain in front of the manor. If you check the mine tunnel nearby, you should see an altar with candles. You do need to have a tool that can light torches/candles to gain entry. This will reveal steps that lead you to the aforementioned chamber with the Chess Puzzle.

Where to find the Pawn?

Here are the rooms where the Pawn appears:

  • Den
  • Bedroom
  • Storeroom
  • Dining Room
  • Drawing Room
  • Walk-In Closet
  • Secret Passage
  • Freezer

Where to find the Rook?

We've seen the Rook appear in the following areas:

  • Nook
  • Conservatory
  • Vault
  • Clock Tower

Where to find the Knight?

We've spotted the Knight a couple of times:

  • Security
  • Observatory

Where to find the Bishop?

Here are the rooms where we found the Bishop piece:

  • Bookshop
  • Chapel
  • Attic

Where to find the Queen?

For the Blue Prince Chess Puzzle, we've only seen the Queen piece in a couple of rooms. Their locations are quite thematic as well given the person who resided and made use of those rooms in the past:

  • Her Ladyship's Chamber
  • Office - The clue can be seen in a photograph in the Dark Room.

Where to find the King?

We also saw the King piece in two areas:

Where to place your chess pieces?

As mentioned earlier, the Chess Puzzle in Blue Prince relies heavily on where you placed the rooms in the manor grid. Now, given that there's only one of each piece, there's a chance that you drafted multiple rooms that contain the same piece. For instance, maybe you had the Den, Bedroom, Walk-In Closet, Freezer, and Secret Passage--all of which have the Pawn--in a single run. This is totally fine.

Even if you have multiple rooms, only one will be considered as the "correct" spot on the board. You can do a bit of trial and error as you move the piece around until you find the right spot.

As you can see in the image above, that run of ours had:

  • The Pawn and Rook in the low-rank rooms where we had a Den and a Nook.
  • The Knight and Bishop are near the middle ranks, which was where we placed our Security and Chapel, respectively.
  • For the Queen, we had Her Ladyship's Chamber near the end.
  • We also had a Throne Room closer to the top, which had our King piece.

The Chess Puzzle blessings and powers

Once you solve the Chess Puzzle in Blue Prince, the walls will open up, revealing gigantic statues of each piece. You may then select one Chess Puzzle power or blessing, which will remain active throughout multiple runs until you decide to change it. Here are the effects:

  • Ambition of the Pawn: When you reach rank 8 each day, you may choose Knight, Bishop, Rook, or Queen powers. You gain the power of that piece until the end of the day.
  • Resilience of the Rook: You may draw floor plans up to four times when drafting the four corner rooms of the house.
  • Piety of the Bishop: You do not have to pay tithes. Instead, you gain +30 gold the first time you enter the Chapel each day.
  • Mantle of the Knight: Adds the Armory room to your draft pool.
  • Gambit of the Queen: Each time you draft a room in the Queenside--i.e. west wing--of the house, you lose five steps and gain a key.
  • Banner of the King: Each day you may choose a room color. Rooms of the chosen color are more likely to be drawn while drafting.

Note: To change your Chess Power, you must redo the entire Chess Puzzle from scratch. So, yes, you still need a run where rooms with pieces are drafted and you have to remember where they're located in the manor.

Which Chess Puzzle power is the best?

Trying to redo the whole Chess Puzzle might seem like a hassle, so you're probably wondering about the best Chess Power in Blue Prince. We're definitely biased here, but we feel that the Knight Power is the best among all the options. This is primarily due to all the stuff you can buy in the Armory. These include:

  • Knight's Shield: Once per day while drafting, you can use the Knight's Shield to ignore the effect of any red room. This means you can safely ignore the sudden drop of steps from the Weight Room, as well as the Archives' way of keeping one room option hidden.
  • Self-Igniting Torch: Can light candles and ignite fuses. It's a great alternative in case you're unable to craft the Burning Glass in the Workshop.
  • The Axe: This might be the best item in the entire game. Basically, you can use it in your room directory to permanently remove the gem cost from one room. Now, imagine using this on the Attic, and you'll end up with a free room that grants +8 items.

That does it for our Blue Prince Chess Puzzle and powers/blessings guide. We hope you take on this challenge so you can gain powerful boons.

A surreal adventure filled with wonders and mysteries await you in Blue Prince. If ever you feel stuck or lost at any point in time in your playthrough, don't forget to check our Blue Prince guides hub.

How To Solve The Chapel And Tomb Puzzle In Blue Prince

10 Abril 2025 at 14:00

Do you want to solve the Chapel and Tomb Puzzle in Blue Prince? While both of these locations tend to be distant from one another (due to how mechanics work), they're nonetheless intricately connected, as you'll soon find out while exploring. Our guide discusses what you can expect from the clues and how to find a handy exit.

How to solve the Chapel and Tomb Puzzle in Blue Prince

The Tomb Puzzle can be solved if you look closely at the clues in the Chapel. The Chapel commonly appears as a drafting option in the manor. It's a red room, which means it has a debuff, one that causes you to lose one gold whenever you enter it. This might be a hassle early on in your playthrough, but certain bonuses, such as being able to increase your gold allowance, make this effect negligible in the long run.

As for the Tomb, it's not a room that you can draft inside the manor. Rather, it's an outer room, which means you need to unlock the Garage Door to gain access to the West Gate Path. The nearby shed has its own selection pool, and the Tomb might appear as an option randomly as you play.

Where are the clues in the Chapel?

If it's your first time attempting the Blue Prince Tomb Puzzle, then you'll notice that the crypt has seven statues of goddesses. You could even interact with each statue's arm and the object that they're holding. The problem is that the clues are in the Chapel.

If you're able to draft the Chapel, go ahead and look at the stained glass artworks. Every goddess that's depicted has a number below their pane. These numbers represent the order in which you should interact with them back at the Tomb.

Tomb Puzzle solution: Statues 1 to 4

Okay, now it's time to solve the Tomb Puzzle in Blue Prince. You need to interact with the arms/handheld objects, which causes their arm to move downward.

  • First statue: Wearing a bowler hat and holding a plough.
  • Second statue: Wearing a chef's hat and holding a circular pan.
  • Third statue: Wearing a farmer's hat and holding a rake.
  • Fourth statue: Wearing a top hat and holding a feather duster.

Tomb Puzzle solution: Statues 5 to 7

You need to interact with three more statues:

  • Fifth statue: Wearing a bonnet and holding a broom.
  • Sixth statue: Wearing a jockey cap and holding a riding crop.
  • Seventh statue: Wearing a crown and holding a scepter.

The exit to the Underground

If you did everything right, the wall near the seventh statue will move, revealing a path that leads further down below. There, you'll find the statue of the reaper, the Angel of Death. There's also a partial map of the Underground in front of it.

When you interact with the reaper's scythe, another fake wall will part. The corridor beyond leads to the Underground proper. CD Projekt Red Fully Absorbed The Studio Making A Multiplayer The Witcher Game

9 Abril 2025 at 14:31

The Molasses Flood, the CD Projekt Red-owned studio behind games like The Flame in the Flood, has fully merged with CD Projekt Red proper, losing its studio identity as it continues work on a multiplayer The Witcher game.

"We want to let you know that on April 1, 2025, The Molasses Flood LLC (“TMF”) merged with CD PROJEKT RED Inc. (“CDPR Inc.”), a company being a part of the CD PROJEKT Group," a statement on the studio's website reads. "As a result of the merger TMF, in its former legal state (of a separate legal entity) ceased its operations, while CDPR Inc. assumed the rights and obligations of TMF. The merger will not affect the availability or distribution of The Flame in The Flood and Drake Hollow video games, which will continue to be published by CD PROJEKT Group."

Studio co-founder Damian Isla is also leaving the studio, calling it "the end of the era" in a LinkedIn post that simultaneously argues that "this is a good and healthy thing for the studio, and it was long-expected." The Molasses Flood was first formed as an independent studio in 2014. In the years that followed, it released the roguelike survival game The Flame in the Flood and the cooperative creature-raising action game Drake Hollow.

Nintendo Won't Raise Switch 2's Launch Price Over Tariffs, Suggests Analyst

9 Abril 2025 at 13:36

Nintendo's official unveiling of Switch 2 coincided with President Trump unleashing higher tariffs on all imports, including consoles and games. In response, Nintendo took the extraordinary step of delaying Switch 2 preorders amidst market uncertainty. However, one analyst believes that Nintendo won't increase Switch 2's $450 price before launching on June 5.

David Cole, the founder of the research firm DFC Intelligence, told Eurogamer that he expects Nintendo to maintain the $450 price initially, and added "we believe that price point was reached with the threat of tariffs already looming." Cole also said that if the 24% tariffs on goods from Japan remain in place, Switch 2's price could rise 20% within the next two years. He went on to suggest that Nintendo may limit the amount of Switch 2 consoles available at launch in response to the tariffs. Tariffs are even higher on goods coming from China and Vietnam, where Nintendo is manufacturing the system.

"There may be a supply issue if Nintendo chooses to limit production initially," noted Cole. "Nintendo is very conservative and they don't like to take big risks on having surplus inventory. So they may take a bit of a wait-and-see approach given some of the current unknowns."

Mario Kart World Is $80 Because That's What People Will Pay For It, Analyst Says

9 Abril 2025 at 13:31

One of the biggest talking points following the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct was how Mario Kart World is priced at $80 USD. That's $10-$20 higher than most major AAA games, prompting people to voice their opinions about the price hike. Nintendo isn't charging $80 for all Switch 2 games, but why is it doing so for Mario Kart World?

Serkan Toto of Kantan Games told GI.biz that Nintendo is doing this simply because they can, and any online "uproar" will blow over in time.

"I think they raised software prices across all these regions because they think they can," Toto said. "Nintendo already priced in the protest and uproar by part of the fan base, betting this will all blow off and gamers will come to accept a new normal eventually. And I think they will be correct about this."
