Port to Xbox Series X|S confirmed.

Sony and Arrowhead Studios have revealed that they're porting their incredibly popular co-op game Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S, due for release on 26th August 2025.

This is a full version of Helldivers 2, costing $40, and is published by PlayStation Publishing on Xbox Series X|S. It's now available to pre-order on the Xbox Store. "A new dawn is upon us. Super Earth is expanding its operations and opening new enlistment centres," said Arrowhead Studios in a tweet. It appears Nixxes is porting the game to Xbox Series X|S.

An upcoming project from the legendary DOOM designer John Romero and his team has been cancelled as part of the wider Xbox cuts which have rocked the industry this week.

The removal of funding – which Insider Gaming reports would have been published by Microsoft subsidiary Bethesda, presumably on PS5 as well as other platforms – has resulted in layoffs at developer Romero Games.

Dying Light franchise developer Techland has reportedly cancelled two unannounced games, resulting in a loss of 130 million Polish złoty (~£26.3 million / $36 million).

The claim comes from Polish outlet Puls Biznesu, where it's said the monetary losses are attributed to "our decision to discontinue further work on two projects". The two titles weren't formally announced, as next month's Dying Light: The Beast is the only project Techland currently has made public.

Free-to-play title ported to consoles next year.

Starry Studio has announced plans to port its open world survival game Once Human to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next year, following a successful and popular debut on PC in 2024. The free-to-play title has you build up your own safehouse and surrounding territory to fight back against the monsters of the Once Human universe. Catch a trailer above to see it in action.

The game is available for wishlisting on the PS Store now, and interestingly, the page lists the SingStar microphone as a compatible accessory. You can wishlist here ahead of the 2026 launch.

Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann has today revealed he is stepping away from production of The Last of Us TV series on HBO so he can put his "complete focus" on game development.

With the production of season two complete and no "meaningful work" done on the third season yet, Druckmann views this as the "right time for me to transition my complete focus to Naughty Dog and its future projects". This will include writing and directing upcoming PS5 title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and he's also serving in a "producer role" on a second project that's currently unannounced.

First confirmed during a State of Play livestream, it's been revealed the final Where Winds Meet beta test will take place this month on PS5 and PC. The last pre-release test will run from 24th to 31st July, and you can sign up for a chance to play through the link.

The significant layoffs affecting the Xbox division — first reported earlier this week — have now begun, says Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier.

In a fresh article, Schreier claims that King, the developer behind Candy Crush, is losing 10% of staff, which equates to roughly 200 jobs. Meanwhile, some employees at Zenimax have also been informed they are being laid off. Zenimax is the company that Starfield, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda is a part of.
