Both PLAs from Different Brands

Both PLAs from Different Brands
1. PLA - Hatchbox - White - Printed in Mk3s 2. PLA - Bambu Lab Basic - Green - Printed in A1 Mini factory profile

I have tested this white PLA from Hatchbox for over eight months on its AC vent clips, and it’s still serving well. There are no issues under the sun, just a bit of looseness after 3-4 months. However, I conducted an experiment yesterday; the new green part fell apart after just one day, which is a normal thing for PLA. You might ask, “Why are you printing in PLA?” I’m aware that ASA would be preferable here, but I don’t have ASA and decided to give PLA a shot as a temporary solution. I know color matters here, but still, it was a surprising performance by Hatchbox.

Working prototype of inner ear vestibular canals illuminating based on plane of rotation

Working prototype of inner ear vestibular canals illuminating based on plane of rotation

This is the calibration routine to assign each LED string to a specific plane of rotation. This simulates how the cupulas of the inner ear work to detect angular rotations of the head on an X, Y, Z plane. The end product will be for clinician and patient education. Inside the model is an Arduino Nano BLE and the lights are the Adafruit Noods.

Kinetic speaker/ sculpture

Kinetic speaker/ sculpture

This is a kinetic sculpture made to represent a speaker. The rings are the “sound waves” if you can imagine that. (I know it doesn’t look like a speaker lol) but regardless I like the rings and the pattern

Recently I’ve been trying to model things with gears and moving parts. I’m definitely no where close to perfect but i think it’s pretty cool and a step in the right direction.

Another one on the books!

Another one on the books!

Another gift from my husband. He printed this tri-color deathly hallows piece for my Harry Potter desk. Black, gray, and white matte PLA with a little bit of gold leaf rub & buff. Approx 7 hrs print time, roughly 7”x7”, on the Bambulabs P1S + AMS. Just needs a frame!
