A small thing that lights up with a mobile phone

![]() | Gone are the days of travelling all the way to IKEA to get your Billy bookcase, just to have to source metal rods online after to make a filament rack. Just pick all the bits up in one place. MakerWorld link: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1150753-ikea-billy-racka-filament-storage-system#profileId-1154969 While I have printed mine in PLA, PETG is always recommended for load bearing prints. ![]() | I sliced this lion bust with custom supports, fuzzy skin and lightning infill using Cura, and printed it with my FLSUN SR using a 0.6mm nozzle. I wanted the rough look. It's just he right size for a table or desk. I will need to paint it with primer and make a latex rubber mold, then make concrete statues, painted black, then copper highlights, then varnish with urethane and polyurethane. [link] [comments] |

A sweet and aesthetically pleasing owl illustration, perfect for adding a touch of charm to your home decor or as a delightful design for a lamp. This artwork features a cute feline with a focus on soft colors and a gentle, inviting style. Imagine this serene cat design bringing a cozy and artistic vibe to any space.
Not to give them ideas but do you think if 3D Printing becomes so popular it will get more regulated, even a 3D Printing Tax?

![]() | Remember back in January when everyone was freaking out with 3DBenchy remixes being removed from Printables? I had never made a 3DBenchy remix before and didn't get the same heartburn others experienced; but I did jump on the wagon of creating a new benchy. Originally named "Marker" (Benchy <- Benchmark -> Marker) so it was less derivative of "Benchy") but it was nearly impossible to find it in the bottomless pit of pen and marker holders so I changed the name to "Marky". I was analyzing a 3DBenchy the whole time designing this, as I wanted to capture that special cutesy vibe that somehow strikes a cord with men, women, children, old people, young people, all the peoples... but give it some fresh life. A biplane is the tugboat of the sky (agree or no, that's why I picked a biplane). I tried to incorporate all the print-quality tests of a 3DBenchy plus some. I designed it to be a similar size so it could exist in the same universe with 3DBenchies; and not clash when displayed together (as well as keeping the filament obligation similar). I also put the spade symbol on the wings as a nod to the "Flying Aces" of WWI. At the same time, I couldn't resist making some jabs (some subtle and some not-so-subtle) at the 3DBenchy; I admire Daniel Norée for the influence the 3DBenchy has had in shaping the 3D printing community; but I've never been one to keep a Benchy on me at all times... and I've always been annoyed that it doesn't float. It worked! I kept the POC unchanged (except the name) as the toddler-safe version, then made a version with a deployable choking hazard (bomb) and uploaded to MakerWorld. I uploaded it as "Exclusive" because I wanted the extra points and was taken by the promise of increased exposure. However, the "Exclusive" badge might've been a turnoff for some people, especially considering the context in which, and my reasons for designing this. After 90 days, I made it remixable and uploaded to Printables and Thingiverse. I saw a slight uptick in downloads on MakerWorld but nothing crazy or overly impressive; so I just figured that people just aren't that into Marky.😐 Well, I just barely figured out how to see downloads on Thingiverse and saw that Marky broke 1,000 downloads in less than a month!! I about fell out of my chair!!! (I know some of you clowns can get 1K in a day but you don't need to flex, let me have this one.😉) So, who wants to explain why Marky is so much more popular on a platform on which I have WAY LESS clout?? Is it a visibility issue?? Do only Ender 3's need benchmarks anymore?? You do NOT need to sugarcoat anything; I have a thick skin and am rarely offended by the written word. PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND; I'm a textbook overthinker. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
![]() | This print of a BIG toad was a total success, the parameters in Cura and my FLSUN SR were set just right. The body is mostly empty, I used lightning infill) but the walls are 1.8mm thick (I used a 0.6mm nozzle). I used custom supports to hold it upright, not for overhangs. There's so many great toad and frog STL out there, I'll have to limit myself to six. [link] [comments] |
![]() | I’m a fan of DIY projects, and here’s a small but satisfying one I recently completed. I’ve been using reusable chopsticks for a while, but one day, the lid of my chopstick case stopped closing properly. Instead of tossing it, I decided to design and 3D print a new one. I modeled it in Fusion 360 and even added my own logo — such a satisfying experience! It only took about 30 minutes to print using PLA. Quick, practical, and personalized. [link] [comments] |
