Disney Unveils Two New Marvel Rides At Avengers Campus

It's been two years since Disney announced a new Marvel attraction at California Adventure's Avengers Campus featuring King Thanos as the villain. Earlier this week at D23, Disney shared a look at the vehicle that guests will be riding across the multiverse in. Now, the name of the attraction has been revealed as well. It's going to be called Avengers: Infinity Defense.

The story behind the attraction is that Tony Stark has developed new portal technology that can take riders to different worlds. But that's also attracted the attention of King Thanos, a version of the Mad Titan who won the Infinity War in an alternate reality. Since Avengers Campus is set in alternate MCU where Thanos never snapped half the universe out of existence, the heroes don't know what to expect from him. Unfortunately for them, King Thanos is coming to rectify that.

The Mandalorian And Grogu Being Added To The Millennium Falcon Ride At Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

D23 came and went without any word about a brand new Star Wars attraction at the Disney parks. But there's one currently existing ride at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom that's going to get a few familiar faces. The Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run ride will feature a new mission that incorporates The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Lucasfilm creative executive Dave Filoni came on stage at D23's Disney Experiences panel to make the announcement. Filoni noted that Epic Games' Unreal Engine--which already helped Lucasfilm produce The Mandalorian through the virtual set known as The Volume--will be used to incorporate Din Djarin and his adoptive son, Grogu, into Smuggler's Run.

Fortnite's New "Absolute Doom" Marvel Battle Pass Revealed, With War Machine, Dr. Doom

We were promised some major Fortnite reveals at Disney's D23 event on Saturday--what else would warrant a livestream inside the game itself?--and major reveals is exactly what we got. The biggest was that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, which begins August 16, will be a new Marvel-focused season, dubbed Absolute Doom--with a battle pass filled with Marvel skins, such as a new Peely called Peelverine.

What we have here in this trailer is the full battle pass reveal, plus looks at some of the new gameplay goodies we're going to get to play with. The battle pass lineup will consist of Gwenpool (the instant unlock), War Machine, Emma Frost, Shuri, Mysterio, Peelverine and Captain Jonesy as the skins you'll unlock by leveling up, and Doctor Doom will be the mid-season unlock, a la Magneto this season.

We also got a glimpse at the new Marvel powers, which appear to include Shuri's claws, War Machine's weapon rig, Iron Man's energy blasts and flight, Captain America's Shield, and Doctor Doom's gauntlets. It's notable that we saw nothing at all of the Fantastic Four during this.

These Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Plushies Really Want To Stay At Your Place

First up, there are plushies of the main characters of Edgerunners, David Martinez and Lucy. David is dressed in his signature jacket and is sporting his default scowl, while other cool details include embroidered cyberware, chains, and a set of abs that kind of resemble an Evangelion unit's face.

There's also an absolute unit version of David based on his appearance in the Edgerunners finale, which has been designed to replicate the bleeding-edge military hardware that the character plugs into for his legendary battle against Adam Smasher in Night City.

Pez Candy Is Pretty Terrible, But These Discounted Animal Crossing Dispensers Are Cute

Most people who buy Pez candy probably aren't thinking about the flavor of the little brick tablets much at all (none taste very good). Pez is all about the iconic plastic dispensers featuring characters from popular media franchises. Pez Dispensers have become collectibles since first debuting in the US in the 1950s (the candy itself is nearly 100 years old). There aren't very many Pez Dispensers themed around video game franchises, but if you're an Animal Crossing fan, Amazon has a limited-time deal on a 12-pack featuring Tom Nook, K.K. Slider, and Isabelle Pez Dispensers. So if you need party favors for an Animal Crossing-themed birthday party, check out this Amazon deal before it's gone.

Animal Crossing Pez Dispensers (12-Pack)

$17 (was $24)

This 12-pack includes a random mix of Animal Crossing Pez dispensers. They're all individually wrapped, so you can pass them out as gifts or horde them all for yourself. Each one also comes with two candy refills, just in case you actually like the taste of Pez.

Once you're done snacking, the dispensers make a nice addition to your home office or game room. You might also consider keeping a few duplicates wrapped and tucked away, as you never know when items like this will become a collector's item.

Addams Family Values Gets First 4K Blu-Ray Release, Just In Time For Thanksgiving

There are many, many holiday-themed movies to choose from, but not a whole ton that are specifically oriented around the US's Thanksgiving holiday. One particular perennial Thanksgiving favorite, though, is the darkly hilarious Addams Family Values, the second movie adaptation of the old Addams Family sitcom from the 1960s, and the progenitor to Netflix's Wednesday. And this fall, Addams Family Values is getting a 4K Blu-ray release for the very first time, 31 years after it was originally released in 1993. You could watch it on Thanksgiving and then jump right into the Christmas season with How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which is also releasing on 4K Blu-ray for the first time the same day.

Addams Family Values on 4K Blu-ray

$26

Addams Family Values lands on 4K Blu-ray on October 29, and the release will include a digital copy code.

In this story, the spooky Addams Family--Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Wednesday, Pugsley and Grandmama--welcome a new member of the family, Gomez and Morticia's new baby Pubert. They hire a nanny named Debbie to take care of Pubert, but it turns out she's a serial killer who plans to seduce, marry and then murder Uncle Fester. One part of her plan involves sending Wednesday and Pugsley to a sleepaway camp, where they have to put on a Thanksgiving play--it's one to remember, and a big part of the reason Addams Family Values is a cult classic to this day.

Another major contributor is the way that Addams Family Values balances out its extremely dark sense of humor with a light tone--it's a balance that many films have attempted, but few have actually achieved, with Addams Family Values being a rare example of one that pulled it off.

The Addams Family franchise has been around for a very long time--the titular family first appeared in a comic strip in The New Yorker in 1938, and then was adapted into a sitcom that ran for two seasons starting in 1964, followed by animated series in 1973 and 1992, two live-action movies and a live-action TV series in the 1990s, a pair of animated films in 2019 and 2021, and also the 2022 Wednesday series on Netflix, which could very well be the most popular iteration of the franchise

A $325 Lord Of The Rings Book Box Set Releases Soon

At this point, there seems to be hundreds of different editions of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, including numerous versions that double as collectible display pieces. But the upcoming Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set might be the most premium version to receive a wide release yet. The three-volume set includes hardcover editions bound in cloth and leather. All three books are illustrated by Alan Lee, a popular artist who has contributed to numerous Tolkien books as well as Peter Jackson's LOTR and Hobbit adaptations.

Speaking of the movies, the 4K limited-edition steelbook collection of The Lord of the Rings received a reprinting that launched. on August 9. Unfortunately, Amazon is currently sold out of the $170 set, but if you really want it, you can buy the set from a third-party seller for $200 and it'll ship directly from Amazon (eligible for Prime).

But back to the books: The Deluxe Illustrated Box Set is very expensive at $325, but there is another new Lord of the Rings collectible book set releasing this year that you can preorder for less than a third of the price. Amazon won't charge for your preorder(s) until your books ship, and any discounts offered between the time you order and release will automatically be applied.

Firearms Expert Reacts to Hunt Showdown PART 3

Pixar Announces Incredibles 3 At D23

This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Incredibles, director Brad Bird's ode to the Fantastic Four, James Bond, and more. In the two decades since then, only a single sequel--2018's Incredibles 2--has arrived. But at D23, Pixar confirmed that Incredibles 3 is in development, with Bird slated to direct as he has for the first two films.

Pixar's Pete Docter made the announcement at the very end of the studio's presentation, and he didn't offer any other details. Docter didn't even say if the film has a release date, but it was clearly well-received news at the show.

‘Incredible 3’ coming soon! #D23 pic.twitter.com/4ZaqQhCjGZ

— Deadline Hollywood (@DEADLINE) August 10, 2024

It took 14 years for Bird to get around to making the second movie, so he's never been in a rush to complete a trilogy. There is also the question of whether Incredibles 3 will be Bird's next film. In 2022, Bird signed a deal with Skydance to direct Ray Gunn, an animated sci-fi movie he wrote over three decades ago. That movie is one of Bird's passion projects, so it seems likely to go first unless Skydance decides not to go forward with it.

New Trailer For Agatha All Along Walks The Witches' Road

WandaVision was the first Marvel Studios series on Disney+ in 2021, but it's taken the better part of three years to get back to Kathryn Hahn's witch, Agatha Harkness, after she was left powerless in the finale. But in the new trailer for Agatha All Along, Agatha has a plan to reclaim everything she lost and more... if her new coven can help her reach the end of the Witches' Road.

It seems like there's a high price for the power that Agatha wants, and she's perfectly willing to let her so-called friends and allies in the coven pay it before she does. There's no sign of Wanda Maximoff in this trailer, but it does appear that the show will offer an even deeper dive into the world of magic than we've seen before in the MCU. Doctor Strange notwithstanding, since the good doctor's sorcery is not witchcraft.

In addition to premiering the new trailer at D23, Hahn and her cast mates--Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp--came on stage and performed The Ballad of the Witches Road, an original song by WandaVision's Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Disney Reveals First Tron: Ares Footage At D23

It's been 42 years since Tron premiered in theaters, and 14 years since Tron: Legacy was released. The third installment, Tron: Ares, has been in the works for years. But at D23, Disney was finally ready to share the first look at the next chapter in the franchise.

Jared Leto plays the title character, Ares, a program who has come from the Grid and entered the real world. Leto was on hand for the preview alongside Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and original Tron star Jeff Bridges. Peters will be playing Julian Dillinger, a character who is presumably related to David Warner's Ed Dillinger from the first film. Cillian Murphy portrayed Dillinger's son, Edward Dillinger, Jr., in Tron: Legacy.

Peters' character was featured prominently in the preview as Dillinger gives a keynote speech about intelligent life coming and AI programs coming to our world. Bridges appears to be playing a program based on Kevin Flynn, his character from the first two movies. Lee told the crowd that her character, Eve Kim, is a programmer who may have paved the way for Ares to enter the real world.

Ironheart's First Clips Premiere At D23

Ever since Disney announced plans to cut back on the number of Marvel shows heading to Disney+, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spin-off series, Ironheart, has been kind of on the backburner. But at D23, Marvel finally debuted some new footage of Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams in her own show.

Marvel hasn't dropped any of the Ironheart clips online yet, but we can tell you that Riri is back at MIT, and she no longer has the same resources that she had in Wakanda Forever. Community's Jim Rash reappears as the Dean of MIT from Captain America: Civil War, and it seems like Riri may be expelled from the school.

More than anything else, Riri wants to rebuild her Ironheart armor. That's where Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins comes in. Parker may not be The Hood yet, but he's leading Riri down a dark path as they steal what she needs for the suit. The early look at her new armor seems more handmade than the suit she built in Wakanda. Riri also seems to realize that what she's doing is wrong, but she still does it anyway.

Marvel Debuts Daredevil: Born Again Trailer At D23

Speak the devil's name, and he shall appear. Daredevil: Born Again and the rest of Marvel's upcoming Disney+ original series were missing from Comic-Con 2024. But Marvel made it up to fans at D23 when the studio premiered the first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. The footage hasn't been officially released online yet. But if these clips are any indication, fans of the first Daredevil series will be very happy.

The common theme in the trailer is that Daredevil is kicking a lot of ass. Matt Murdock is back, and he's a force of nature. A few familiar faces from the previous show are seen, including Karen, Foggy, and even Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of crime. Daredevil Season 3 apparently hasn't been retconned, because Fisk knows Matt is Daredevil, and he's not afraid of him. They have a scene together in a diner that seems like a homage to Heat. And for some reason, Matt has multi-colored Daredevil masks including the yellow one from She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher also makes his return in the footage, but he doesn't seem to remember Matt. Frank is also looking pretty rough since the last time we saw him in The Punisher Season 2. More intriguingly, the trailer appears to introduce White Tiger, another costumed vigilante. But as some fans have pointed out online, he may also be Muse, a more recent Daredevil villain. Both characters have white costumes, so it's hard to tell.

Marvel Shares First Glimpse Of Human Torch's Costume In The Fantastic Four

Thanks to a hectic production schedule, The Fantastic Four: First Steps didn't begin filming until July 29, the day after Comic-Con. That wasn't enough time to get a trailer together, but Marvel didn't come to D23 empty-handed. During the presentation for the Fantastic Four reboot, Marvel shared the first look at Joseph Quinn's Human Torch costume in the film.

The first look at Joseph Quinn in costume as Johnny Storm in THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS! pic.twitter.com/q3fu922Gs5

— MCU - The Direct (@MCU_Direct) August 10, 2024

As you can see from the pic, it's not an exact recreation of Johnny Storm's costume from the comics. It looks more like a hazard suit than a traditional costume. But it does have the bright blue area and a retro-looking 4 logo that echo some of the older Human Torch outfits.

The pic in question came from a short video featuring Quinn alongside his FF co-stars, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach from the set of the movie. They couldn't break away from the shoot, but they're eager to show off the reboot.

First The Mandalorian And Grogu Footage Revealed At D23

It's been almost five years since a Star Wars movie was in theaters, but that's going to change in 2026 when The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives just in time for the 49th anniversary of the franchise. At D23, fans discovered that the film has already started production, and the first footage was screened for the crowd.

Because the movie has only been shooting for a few weeks, there wasn't a lot to show off. Lucasfilm started with a flashback to the first meeting of Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and Grogu from the first episode of The Mandalorian. From there, we saw a glimpse of their further adventures, which include going up against an AT-AT.

Grogu still leaves the shooting to his daddy, but they also spend some quiet time together to share some soup. Zeb from Star Wars Rebels briefly shows up as well. Additionally, Grogu was seen on a ship alongside Babu Fick's species, and Snowtroopers also made an appearance.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Trailer Drops At D23 - Watch Now

Star Wars isn't sitting out of this year's D23, and Lucasfilm started off its presentation with a first look at the next Disney+ live-action series: Skeleton Crew. Jude Law came out to the stage before the premiere of the new trailer for the show, which briefly teases his character, a Force user named Jod Na Nawood.

The show has been described as a homage to the Amblin sci-fi movies from the '80s, and that's definitely the vibe of the trailer. Four young children discover a starship hidden in the woods, and wind up stuck when it leaves their planet behind with no apparent way to get home. The series is about the kids' attempts to survive in the galaxy and reunite with their families.

Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith are playing the four kids at the heart of the show. Three of them appear to be human, while the other has an elephant-like appearance. Kerry Condon, Nick Frost, and Jaleel White will also have roles on the series.

Toy Story 5 Story Details Revealed, Hits Theaters In 2026

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of Toy Story, the first fully CGI animated film that put Pixar on the map. And at D23, the next chapter of the franchise was officially unveiled. Toy Story 5 is coming to theaters in 2026, and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton will be the director.

Stanton has been with Pixar since the first Toy Story, and he co-wrote all four of the previous films. He also co-directed A Bug's Life before going solo as the director on Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Finding Dory.

After coming out on stage at D23, Stanton revealed the first promo artwork from Toy Story 5, which also teased the new threat facing the toys: Technology.

Avatar 3 Gets Official Title At D23

Avatar 3 may have skipped Comic-Con 2024, but it's out in force for D23. Director James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana took the stage to share the first details for Avatar 3, which now has an official name. It will be called Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Because the film is still too early in its post-production, there wasn't any new footage to show off. However, Cameron and company did show a sizzle reel of production art before revealing the title of the film.

"I can't wait to show you what we've been creating for Avatar 3," said Cameron. "Everyday when I'm reviewing new shots when they're coming in from the VFX folks, it's like Christmas morning... It's got really high emotional stakes, more than ever before."
