Silent Hill 2 Patch 1.06 Fails to Fix PS5 Pro Problems

Graphical issues remain on PS5 Pro.

Bloober Team has today released a new update for Silent Hill 2 that intends to fix the issues the title is facing when it is played on PS5 Pro. It's available to download now and weighs in at 517.1 MB, but it appears that anyone playing on the new upgraded console shouldn't get their hopes up too much for the update to completely solve everything. The testing done by users after installing the update reveals there are still graphical issues with the build.

For example, Twitter user @yrlak responded to the tweet announcing the update with a video of constant flickering and image blotches in an interior environment. Then, on Reddit, it's described how the opening area just outside of Silent Hill still features flickering in puddles and an "annoying shimmer" in reflective surfaces. "The base PS5 still produces a more stable image," claimed user erimiz687.

New trailer coming very soon.

Paramount and SEGA's upcoming movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is hitting theatres in just under a month, and to drum up some hype, it's sent out an extremely cool press package to the media.

Inside a fancy box with some other materials is a SEGA Genesis game box, featuring some custom cover art featuring Sonic, Shadow, and other characters from the film. But what's really exciting is what's inside — a cartridge, and it's not just a replica.

PS Plus Black Friday Discounts Again Seem Completely Random

Some get a deal, but others don't.

The three tiers of PS Plus go on sale today for Black Friday, but whether you actually qualify for the promotion appears entirely up in the air — just like in previous years. On the PlayStation Blog, it's said that new members to the service can claim a 30 per cent saving, and if you're upgrading from one tier to the next, then you can also claim a discount.

These offers are now in effect and are available until 12th December 2024. They're fairly good deals if you are only just signing up for a membership, but just like in previous Black Friday sales from Sony, you're out of luck if you simply want to extend your current PS Plus membership — especially at the PS Plus Premium tier. There's no official offer to extend your subscription at the tier you're already on, and if you're already on the highest one (PS Plus Premium), then there is quite literally no Black Friday discount for you to take advantage of.

Random: Even Clive from Final Fantasy 16 Is Begging for Bloodborne at 60fps

Surely you can't deny Clive, Sony.

It almost doesn't matter what Sony does — nothing can placate the hunger that PlayStation fans have for anything Bloodborne. One of the most beloved exclusive titles to release in the last 10 years, the PS4 action RPG from Japan Studio and FromSoftware is held in incredibly high regard — and everyone is asking for more.

The game's main issue is its ropey performance, with a choppy frame rate a stain on an otherwise fantastic experience. Unfortunately, Bloodborne never received a patch to take advantage of PS4 Pro, which began a sort of embittered attitude among fans that think Sony has abandoned its gothic masterpiece.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sequel's Platinum Trophy Won't Make You Want to Jump into a Mako Reactor

"In future I will not be making Platinum Trophies that difficult".

The as-yet-unnamed successor, the final chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, won't suck the lifestream out of players to unlock its Platinum Trophy. That's according to director Naoki Yamaguchi, anyway, who apologised for the pain he put persistent Trophy Hunters through in Rebirth.

In an impressive get, the British tabloid Daily Star (Hi, Lloyd!) sat down for an exclusive chat with the director, who admitted to at least one fault in his otherwise great most recent game: "I think there is one other thing actually, which I can say was a mistake on my part, something that I've already apologised for - and I definitely will not do again, which is how difficult I made it to get the Platinum Trophy. Rest assured, I have learned from that, and in future, I will not be making Platinum Trophies that difficult."

Black Myth: Wukong Declared Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024

Momentum building.

In a stunning debut, Black Myth: Wukong from Chinese developer Game Science came out of nowhere to become one of the year's best-selling games. Considering it's a single-player outing, a new IP, and Game Science's first console title, it's especially impressive. In recognition of these achievements and more, Black Myth: Wukong has been declared Golden Joystick Ultimate Game of the Year, kicking off the awards season in suitably compelling style.

If you didn't know, The Golden Joysticks are a GamesRadar+ joint these days, an outlet we frequently cite here. It's actually the second oldest award show in the industry, after the Arcade Awards, and began way back in 1983, before many gamers were even born. While perhaps not as glitzy as Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards, they don't allow DLC to contend for Game of the Year, which is a pretty compelling differential in our opinion.

Australia's Planned Social Media Ban Won't Include PSN After All

Yeah, nah, don't worry about it, mate.

Last week, we brought you troubling news from Down Under, where in the far-off land of Australia, an unfortunate precedent is coming to pass: the banning of "social media" (which has since been legally defined) for under 16s. This revolutionary concept is quickly catching on and is apparently "already on the table" for you poms in the UK; sorry about that. And while it may already be too late for unfortunate Aussie teens, we are at least happy to confirm that the ban will not impact their ability to play violent, debaucherous PlayStation games to their heart's content, an issue of vital import to this young-at-heart Aussie scribe.

Thankfully, Australia's little grommets will still be allowed access to the PlayStation Network, as the proposed ban will not apply to "online video games" - despite the PSN's potentially scary messaging capabilities. Services like TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, Instagram and X will be prohibited, but bizarrely, YouTube is allowed due to its educational benefits.

The Last of Us 2 PS5 Pro Is Yet Another Version of a Great Game

"PS5 Pro allows us to make an emotional journey rather than a technical one".

Love the series or leave it alone, The Last of Us Part II Remastered is a stunning game and a perfect way to showcase the power of the PS5 Pro. In a new trailer, developers from Naughty Dog explain why this is the ultimate, definitive, absolutely ideal way to play; we got distracted thinking about how many versions of these games we've played at this stage.

Activating our current annoyance, Naughty Dog extolls the virtues of the sequel while making an implied dig at the base PS5 ("PS5 Pro allows us to make an emotional journey rather than a technical one"). Our bugbear is that it's not immediately clear whether the update is live from the trailer itself. Support was added last month, in case you missed it, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered does thankfully have a bespoke "pro mode" rather than simply supercharging the existing performance and fidelity modes.

Assassin's Creed Shadows To Overhaul Series' Sedentary Stealth Mechanics

Bye bye, birdy.

Ubisoft is changing the way Assassin's Creed Shadows' stealth mechanics work for both new protagonists, the samurai Yasuke and the shinobi Naoe. Ubisoft detailed how it all works in a blog post that appears to have since been nuked; Nevertheless, Eurogamer got the details.

It seems the developers are trying to find a middle ground between the game's traditional, instant-death assassinations and the serious damage done once inflated RPG health pools appeared on the scene, beginning with Assassin's Creed Origins. By default, stronger enemies will be able to deny assassination attempts, and some weaker enemies will be able to defend against specific types (only vulnerable from above, for example), communicated by a coloured icon. An option will allow all of this to be disabled, returning to the classic insta-kill style if it sounds like too much of a departure.

Hands on with four hours of series reboot.

Tomohiko Sho is humble about his personal accomplishments when we meet him in a swish Parisian hotel basement after several hours of hands-on time with Dynasty Warriors: Origins. “I practiced martial arts,” he casually informs us, moments after admitting he’s practically a scholar of 14th century Chinese novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

MLB The Show 25 Announced Early to Quell Backlash for Current PS5, PS4 Game

Foul ball.

Back when MLB The Show 24 launched, we didn’t really have any problems with Diamond Dynasty, the game’s flagship team-building mode.

Of course, it’s difficult to predict how the community will adjust to certain changes over time, and while we figured the focus on Sets and Seasons would keep players engaged all year long, the feedback has been brutal for San Diego Studio.

Opinion: The Game Awards' Persona 3 Reload Disrespect Is Crazy

Left in the Dark Hour.

The original Persona 3 altered my perspective of what a game could be. When I first played the title as a teenager all those years ago, its outstanding sense of style, iconic soundtrack, and brooding tone made it a truly unique experience. It remains one of my all-time favourites.

When Persona 3 Reload released earlier this year, I was blown away by how well Atlus had reshaped a classic for modern audiences. Granted, that brooding tone isn't quite so brooding in Unreal Engine 5, and I can understand the argument that the remake feels somewhat sanitised — but I still think it's a masterfully crafted piece of media.
