Autodesk Fusion 360 32 Web (to strengthen a thin wall construction)

The Web feature in Autodesk Fusion 360 allows us to create extra walls to give a thin wall construction strength. The web profile first has to be drawn, often this sketch is made on a construction surface. To be able to reference and snap to the existing surfaces, some lines of the body that we need to reference are first projected onto the construction surface. The video shows all this. Autodesk Fusion 360 31 Rib (to strengthen a construction)

The Rib feature in Autodesk Fusion 360 allows us to create material between two surfaces in order to give a construction strength. Autodesk Fusion 360 30 Loft (extrude along profiles)

Autodesk Fusion 360 21 Extrude a Fidget Spinner

To create a 3D object based on our 2D drawing(s) the Extrude feature is one of the most commonly used in Autodesk Fusion. After extruding the frame of the fidget spinner, we add the outer weights and the thumb and finger grip in the middle. Then we give all bodies an Appearance, a material. As a final step we add a Fillet to round off the edges, which gives thr more natural light reflections and highlights. Autodesk Fusion 360 20 Sketch Functions and Parameters in Dimensions

Instead of using fixed numbers in dimensions, Autodesk Fusion 2D Sketch mode allows the use of functions. Every dimension automatically receives an identifier, like d5. Other dimensions can reference these with formulas like d5 / 3 or (d5 + d6) / 2. Moreover, instead of d-numbers, dimensions can be given a recognizable name, like ‘width’ or ‘height’, which is done in the Parameter list. Autodesk Fusion 360 17 Sketch Fillet & Chamfer (equal, distance + angle, 2 distances)

With the Fillet and the Chamfer tools in Autodesk Fusion 2D Sketch mode we can round off or chafe off corners. The same tools are also available in 3D mode, so the question arises which to use ... should I fillet & chamfer in 2D or in 3D? I choose 3D most of the time, because we can immediately see the effect and find the dimension that suits us, it is faster and it is easier to modify later. Is it required? No it is not. If the only goal is to 3D print or to laser cut a design, dimensions are implicitly contained in the exported files (DXF or STL), it’s not required to add them in the Sketch drawings. In situations where a design may have to be modified later, fully constraining your geometry is highly advisable though, it keeps the topology intact and modifications are only possible by changing dimensions. Autodesk Fusion 360 15 Sketch Constraints (limit degrees of freedom)

Constraints in Autodesk Fusion 2D Sketch mode are used to limit the degrees of freedom of lines and shapes. They also reduce the amount of dimensions that need to be placed to fully constrain a drawing. For instance, if two lines share a Perpendicular constraint, there is no need to add a 90 degree dimension between them, that would in fact even over-dimension the drawing. Autodesk Fusion 360 14 Sketch Grid- & Inference Snapping (snap to grid or to POI's)

Snap to Grid and Inference Snapping in Autodesk Fusion 2D Sketch mode are a great help when creating drawings. While drawing, the pointer snaps when horizontal or vertical, parallel, perpendicular, at mid-points and at center points. We can suppress inference snapping via press & hold the Ctrl key.
