Receipt Wrangler August Newsletter

Hello Wranglers, Noah here!

Another busy month in the books. Let's jump into what got done in July.

Development Highlights:

Group prompts: Added the ability to select a prompt to be used for a specific group, instead of the global using the configured global prompt.

Currency symbol: Added the ability to change the currency symbol in both desktop and the upcoming mobile version. This is not to support multiple currencies, and currency conversion, but to simply change the currency from the default of "$" to whatever you'd like..

Updates to image viewing: Added the ability to download a receipt image on desktop, expand the image to full screen and view large or small previews of receipt images, in which a default can be set in the user preferences.

Vision support: Added support for OpenAI vision models (gpt-4o and gpt-4o-mini) and Ollama based vision models (llava). Main difference being that the model will read and pull out the text from the model and return the receipt rather than using OCR to pull out the text and send to the model.

Open AI model selection: Previously, Receipt Wrangler used ChatGPT 3.5 turbo by default for open ai integration, but now users may use whichever model they'd like. By default, if no model is selected, ChatGPT 3.5 turbo will be used by default.

Receipt edit (mobile): Full receipts can now be edited on the go in the mobile app. Previously most fields were editable except for shares, and categories and tags.

Receipt add manually (mobile): Full receipts can now be added manually within the mobile app.

Sort receipts (mobile): Receipts can now be sorted in the mobile app, by the same fields as desktop.

Implement login autofill (mobile): Users can now autofill username and password, from the device's configured password manager to login to Receipt Wrangler.

Coming up in August:

Filtered receipts dashboard (mobile): Mobile users need the ability to see their filtered receipt dashboards, like in desktop.

Receipt editing queue (desktop): This feature will allow user to select some amount of receipts and edit them one after another. Users will be able to select receipts from the receipts list, or from a dashboard to edit one after each other

Receipt shares quick actions (mobile): Similar to desktop, users need to be able to quickly perform actions such as splitting the receipt equally between users, or splitting between users with shared portions.

Receipt Search (mobile): This feature will allow users to search for receipts, similar to the desktop app.

That about covers it for August. There will certainly be more work that gets done, but I'm gonna keep things a bit open ended to work on things as they come up, and leave a bit more time for polishing of both the mobile app and desktop app.

Mobile App: The mobile app was previously slated to be released sometime in August. That release date is going to be pushed back a bit since last month's mobile development took much longer than anticipated. I'm expecting it to be ready between September and October sometime. Development is coming along pretty well and is getting more and more usable by the day.

With that being said, version 1.4.0 of the mobile app is out today, which includes all of functionality above that got completed, so be sure to update!

Thanks for reading!

Noah

EDIT: IOS and Android builds are going through store approval, and should be completed in a few hours.
